The game is not perfect, with so many skimming off the top like a lottery, so in the business of trading, we must acknowledge the facts and try to make a buck where ever there is one. The difference between retail and pro is the approach. Retail looks for the home run and takes big risks while pro looks to make money on each trade and is conservative. Retail uses excess money earned from jobs away from the market, risk capital. Pro uses own money plus margin to generate a living from trading, working capital. That's why retail are investors and pros are traders. The people who set up the game know this, pander to this, they take complete advantage of the retail mentality and use on them to put paper away forever if they can tell a good story. Sorry to be so cynical but having worked in the business for 12 years wearing many hats, this is the conclusion I have arrived at.
