Joe,

Your post For the first six months of 1998, stock funds rose an average of 11.7 percent, compared with a 17.7 percent gain in the S&P prompted me to take a look at what my portfolio did from 1/1/98 to 6/30/98. Damn. Guess I should be in an S&P index fund, as I was a whopping 10.1% for that time. Got my butt whipped semi-equip as 3 of my 5 bottom performing stocks were in that sector (Mattson, PRI Auto, and Brooks Auto). Fortunately, Pfizer helped offset some of that loss with a throbbing 43.6% gain over that period.

I never can seem to get the timing down for this group. I will just have to keep trying till I get it right.
