No you're not the only one.
There is some interested investors in Montreal as well as here on the west coast. Personally I have a rather large position in the company
since early '93. Foolishly watched (and did nothing!) the share price soar more than five-fold to 2.80$ and then right back (more or less)
to where I started in '93. In hindsight it's a typical "could have should have", the idea then and now is that there's a lot more unrealized potential than the share price reflects(ed) now or then. In the process I've had a lesson in investor sentiment.
ASW is like a three legged stool-one leg being the Kenville property with it's aur,cu etc. indications,-the second leg is the placer gold mine (supposed to generate cashflow eventually, in order to prop up the two other legs) in Equador-the third being the gems in the Slocan valley and the one that appearantly got your attention.
The stool got wobbly when Teck withdrew their support vis a vis the Kenville site a few years ago and made that leg a bit too short (at least for the time being since ASW is still pursuing exploration of the site). If the heat-treatment of the sapphires is successful (it sure is taking a loooong time) and a market found for them (Asia now in a slump), we may one day see the sentiment turn around and return to the glory (few) days of 3$. The additional gemstones discovered in the Valley makes this third leg quite a lot more important than the other two IMO. The trick is and will be to convert the stones to cash
for the benefit of the shareholders. Possible obstacles could be the various enviro-groups whereas the gov't presently seems somewhat positve towards exploration/gentle extraction.
