This is getting a little off-topic (and I hate to be drawn into a Macs vs PC's scream-fest) BUT:
It's not a very constructive argument to talk about Macs being 3% of "the market" and then bashing MCRE for attempting to sell into that market (presumably at the expense of the other 97%).
For the vast majority of MCRE's products, "the market" is the graphic arts market. Macs are strong in graphic arts. Lessee... Adobe, for instance, has sold about $900M of software in the last 12 months, and if memory serves, they're currently about 40% Mac. Which is approx $360M of Mac-based graphic arts software. In the past twelve months.
Obviously, there is still a lot of money to be made selling graphics apps on the Mac. I think anyone at MCRE would consider $360M a lot of sales!
Anyone trying to sell products like Painter would be goofy to ignore the Mac market. First, there's good money to be made there. Second, a lot of these artists are touchy about their Mac's; even if they have to switch later on, they'll still be peeved at company's who deserted their platform earlier on. Third, a ton of Web-based stuff is happening on the Mac; the same graphic artists who designed for print are now designing Web pages, and they haven't changed computers to do so.
Like I said, I usually don't get into these, but it's important for understanding MCRE's markets. It's a pain to develop and market for both platforms, but for companies like ADBE, MCRE, MACR, etc., it is necessary and proper.

P.S. Re "MetaStream needs a fast CPU and Intel will always outpace the PowerPC camp." FYI Apple, for the past few quarters, has the fastest computers on the market... |
