Question: Who ever said the LM158 was designed for the defense industry?

You, Bill Jackson, did. Check out your post:

"I [Bill Jackson] am aware of the LM123, 223, 323 [LM158, LM258, LM358] type of nomenclature reflecting parts for Mil, Ind or consumer uses with different temp and voltages ranges."

So you believe mil-standard parts went through more rigorous testing but somehow refuses to believe Intel's 300 MHz parts went through more selective testing than the 266MHz ones. Do you believe in AMD's K6/300 and K6/266 having two different products? Please try not to be a hypocrite when answering this question.
