Forrest and Scott,

Thanks for your responses, they provide more insight on "the threat".
As you can expect, when one reads the other threads that deal with ADSL technology people aren't as up front with its limitations as someone without a financial interest in the technology.

What I got from your responses was that quality is an issue here when comparing ADSL to wireless. To add a little to what was said, I have read that ADSL can go as far as 18,000 feet. However, as the line gets noiser, ADSL circuits measure the noise and drop the speed as necessary to avoid errors.

Also in the ADSL arena, in my reading I found there is a lot of jostling for position in terms of what technology will eventually be chosen. ADSL is the basic technology and then you get into VDSL, HDSL and more very technical stuff. Some engineers want to press on with the basic ADSL technology and get it deployed, others want to standardize with more advanced versions. However, coming to an agreement would take more time. So, wireless has an edge here because it is already deployed. As someone else has said, its the wild west out there. It's a wonder any of us can keep up with the changes...

Thanks again.
