Man Says Stock Price Gave Him Whiplash

WLV, CA. - A man is suing a telecomunications company, claiming that it's stock price gave him whiplash during his 1998 Labor Day party when it's share price skyrocketed from low single to high double digits. ''I saw stars,'' said Gary Owens, a 32-year-old ex-Marine. He said that watching the price move that quickly actually led to physical injury of his neck and spine. "Watching it just about knocked me out. It was a bolt of lightning hit me.''
Owens said he hurt his neck and back and was still in pain nearly ten trading days later. He is suing the company for more than 15,000 shares and would not accept a cash settlement.
''When I tell people how it happened, they just laugh, they don't realize how traumatic it was '' he said.
Seth, a fellow shareholder, said he didn't see the incident, but ''I sympathize with his pain though I don't see why he's complaining, nobody put a gun to his head and made him watch."
And what did Owens' bride think of the incident? ''My wife understood completely,'' he said. ''She has a good sense of humor, and loves the new house. "
