I may be wrong, but the announcement was not supposed to be out for a few more days. That is why it looks suspicious that volume should pick up 1-day before bad news announcement. In a more active stock like YHOO, DELL, INTC etc this would definitely have been investigated due to the amount of money involved and the noise that loosers would make.
