Sorta OT

Gary, I just do simple stuff like go long. I have a hard time keeping all the fancy puts, calls and double latte stuff straight. Actually if it were coffee I could keep that straight, since my last job was a CFO for a coffee company.

But seriously, is all the option writing and covering making more or less than just going long? Should the inexperienced attempt the high wire?

As you know, I often am bullhead, and when I go long it is longer than most. When I was big time long ASND it was more than 100% of my portfolio due to margin. Killed all my other holdings to defend ASND. Now I am long RDRT with near 70% committed to it and 20ish% to ASND and 10%ish to NN. My bet is that RDRT has poor earnings, but a good conference call on 7/15 and the light comes on at the end of the tunnel - the worst is over and the qualifications and R&D are coming, and that ATM switching reals kicks butt. I guess the bet with options is less strategic and more economic. If you can get a spread in the market price, do it.

Thoughts on my assessments and questions, Dennis
