eric--
people elect not to offer a secondary because they are afraid of the dilution, major holders have said no, or no one is interested in buying the shares. i think it was the last one.
and you continue to assume that making everything in house is the best way to go. ok, consider this....why does every PC OEM produce next to nothing other than the finished product in house? fabs are an enormous expense which is why ALA doesnt get much out of making their own chips. besides, i would be willing to bet that TXNs semi ops are a hell of a lot more efficient than ALAs ops.
if outsourcing is such a bad idea, why do most sucessful companies to do it?
well, WSTLs cost structure is improving consistently, is ALAs. about this bread thing... lets stick with that analogy. there is a really good sub chain here in austin. they dont make their own bread...why? because it is cheaper to get it from someone else. subway makes its own bread, but no one eats there so the point is moot.
in a perfect world, vertical integration is great. unfortunately, we dont live in a perfect world.
