TurboTax is very good for the average Joe and relatively inexpensive. I have CPA friends who use it and are able to spit out perfect returns quickly. If you use Quicken to record your stock trades, then it's almost a no-brainer - TurboTax will upload all your trades to the Schedule D and calculate everything nice for you. It will also upload all other tax-related items, like Schedule A items and income items, if you track all those in Quicken. It's really pretty slick.
