I agree with all your thoughts. However, right now, fundamentals and 'moving into new areas' are not good enough. From people I know in China and friends who work for large consulting firms like McKinsey, Gartner Group, etc all say that Asia is worse that the press tells us, and worse because it will take awhile for the true damage to hit here.
That is why our gov. and banks are working so hard to 'fix' it, when in reality, Asian countries must contribute towards that 'fix' or we may all go thru a world wide recession. I'm not trying to be a pessimist...merely quoting some who's opinions are more informed than mime.
Our influence and pressure may work...but we cannot possibly know the results for 6-9 months. That is alot of why Atmel is moving in other directions...as fast as is possible. Like when Phillip Morris saw the writing on the wall and got more into foods. Heck, the tobacco part is a free ride, stock-price wise.
so we sit and wait. Remember the big slump in Big Blue??? True believers were rewarded. By the way, Paine Webber still has an mild 'buy' on atml. May not be there next week. Analysts love to rate a stock AFTER all the news. Happy 4th week-end to all.
