Mike, They axed AoJ, as to why if
you read usenet,there's a couple
of developers from MPRS other studios
explaining why.
Apparently, Simtex (makers OF x-com)
located in Austin, finally had a Alpha
version of the game and were not happy
with it. They wanted to redo alot of the game,
taking a few more months to do it, management
said no,broke up the team, now the developers
are looking for new homes. MPRS is keeping the
license though.

There's hundreds of posts in,

comp.sys.ibm.pc.games.strategic

There's some great info being posted,
according to one of the heads of another
of their studios, all of the other games
are on track. No one's come out and said
it yet, but i think MPRS either has a
buyer or a merger ready to go. Amy Bolyn
is the one to listen to, she says soon,
perhaps this week.
What ever happens, somebody is going to end up
with all of MPRS,maybe GTIS again, could be
anybody. I don't think management would or could be
stupid enough to give up the Star Trek licenses,
Civ licenses, Mechwarrior licenses etc. The companys
who control the rights to those aren't going to let
any developer just finish the games. If MPRS felt the
games were going nowhere,i'm pretty sure they would
just have to can the project.
I don't know where Coys been, i see him posting
in Yahoo. He's been reading Usenet to, perhaps he
can shed some light. He knows the company and industry
better than most folks.
Personally i'd like to see ATVI get Mechwarrior
back, then they could both quit sueing eachother
over Civ rights. I don't think it's going to happen
though, ATVI is into outdoor and leisure games companys
now. Looks like they are going to compete with GTIS and
THQI. Should be fun to watch:-)
