steve,

Very good searching.

I can help. Anything linked to a 21 series NEC afis....will be IDX.

Health care has two applications of concern to the biometric world.

One is internal authentication. Doctors and nurses gaining access to patient records. A large HMO must be very concerned about who can see patient records. These applications can involve training and can be custom set for different security levels and accuracy. Example ....there is no reason for an X-ray tech to have access to a patient's AIDS test results.

The second is patient ID. A patient walks in the door to get a few stitches or a throat culture. A quick index finger does the trick. These searches will pull non sensitive information.......Alergies, addresses...etc. Super accurate finger placement may not be easy for the patients...and a more expensive authentication device may not be needed for this application.

There was an announcement from an HMO a while back...involving IDX...where they said that they were not comfortable with the system for admitting patients...but could see another use for the technology. I believe they were saying that they wanted it for internal employee applications....and that patient authentication applications would come later.

Almost an internet or intranet thing. Anyhow....healthcare will pop first...IMO.
