Do you use market orders or limit orders? I tend to use limit orders and sometimes end up chasing a stock as it moves away from my price (like a dog chasing a car?). Part of the problem is that my market order executions have not always been very timely. Since market orders are not executed if an ECN is at the inside market, brokerages like Datek are at a disadvantage since you do not have the option of routing your order directly to a market maker.

I agree that profits can quickly vanish and turn into losses. That's a lesson I keep learning and relearning. One of these days I'll learn to be happy with taking a fraction.

Thanks for your responses!
