Bill excellent educational material. Another thought to keep in mind is to check the commission schedule for low priced stocks. While many firms do not differentiate between low priced and high priced stocks, Discover does charge extra 2.75% of the capital over and above the regular $19.95 commission for stocks under $1 and that can add up to a tidy sum of money. But it is all relative. Some would pay the hefty commissions because they are going to hold it longer term (that is what I did).
