Yes, I one time wanted to SELL a stock and did not check the box that is to sell. If you don't check the box, guess what...the computer automatically puts a BUY order in... I noticed the error about a minute after I sent the order but it was too late. And I was wanting to sell my holdings I had because I felt the stock was going down....In my case I must say I had a second chance to review my order before I commit to it, but I just hit the enter button without ever looking at the order twice. Now I look at the order three times
before I send!! I called, complained about the ease of buying when I wanted to sell, how the system should not automatically buy etc. But I realized this was my error and I bought the stock. I later sold it all but can't recall offhand if I made a buck on it or lost. Either way it was a small amount. But it could have been a lot! I just about died when I realized I had BOUGHT more! I will never do that again! This is one case when you talk to a broker, you never make that error.
