Hi Christine,

Of course I like your poetic response. It's just that as a novice author and expert critic, I am extremely sensitive to being outperformed in my own writings. Sure, I know that there are many rumors going around SI that a literary genius is running a short story thread(#Subject-20326), but I still feel ripe and exposed when superior responses such as yours are received.

SHOTGUN is an old programming term for typing before thinking. Back in the 70's when I began coding, the priest in charge forbade this approach. Before one could begin a program, he had to prove that the procedure had been thought out and written down before monopolizing a terminal. Simply sitting down and writing code was taboo. If one was caught SHOTGUNNING, they were required to use punch cards to enter their code.
