It was a time of trying to survive. Layoff after layoff filled the newspaper in Houston.

FLC owner didn't start buying rigs until much later...maybe in 93-ish. Things started going bad in 1980-81. The old saying was, Stay Alive til '85. What it should have been was '95.

It can get very ugly out there. Wasn't any consolidation going on, just survival.
