Any telco folks out there have any thoughts on the potential for Portico as a solution to the Local Number Portability (LNP) issue? Some background...LNP compliance was mandated by the Telco Reform act of '96 so consumers can take their home phone number with them if they select a new local exchange carrier. Companies like Evolving Systems offer expensive software solutions to the telcos so they can be compliant. Once every man, woman, and child on the planet has their very own Portico number (heh heh heh) home telephone numbers become transparent to the caller, and really only need to exist for billing purposes. You switch to a new LEC, your home phone changes, you update your Portico prefs, and you're all set!! Thoughts?
