To all,
This is definately only a rumour so take this with a grain of salt: Select Software (SLCTY), a case tool vendor that sells modeling tools for business modeling and software system modeling, is up for sale, see information below (some weeks old). According to some rumours I've heard, Inprise is a potential buyer (or at least one of those who are interested).
"IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 9, 1998--SELECT Software Tools plc (NASDAQ:SLCTY) announced today that it has received preliminary indications of interest concerning a possible acquisition of SELECT. The Company's Board of Directors is currently reviewing the Company's strategic alternatives...."
The main product from Select, Select Enterprise, is a complete business and software modeling tool including support for UML, code generation etc. It already has integration to the Borland environments, and the companies have worked together before.
I guess Select would fit into the "integrating the enterprise" vision, since a modern modeling tool is part of a complete Enterprise solution. The price matters of course, and I know many on this thread don't want any more acquisitions from INPR.
Again, just a rumour that I wanted to share with the thread.
Best regards,
