I'm wondering what your fire situation is like compared to the California fires we had many years back. 90 deg heat, 50 Mi/hr Santa Ana winds and pyromaniacs running around all over the place. Our swimming pool had 2in of ash in the bottom every day for a week. Pool cleaners were at a premium that year. (I will refrain from any jokes since I know smoke signal/DSL analogies are not allowed here)

It's not pyromaniacs, our problem is No Rain, 100 degree Temp. A HIGH over the Gulf, and thunderstorms which produce 5 minutes of rain, yet throw Lighting Bolts like Jiffy Pop Popcorn popping. (Fla lightning capital of the US.) An on Shore Breeze one day, then out of the west the next. You know it's bad when they close I-95 from Jacksonville to the middle of the state where I live. This leaves one main corridor for all the Tourists heading north or south I-75/FL Turnpike. Guess how fun it was to drive home Sunday from Tallahassee this holiday weekend?
Luckly not that many homes have been destroyed, but that statement only makes it sound like it is not as bad as it really is.....
