OT(Sumwut): Motorola To Detail Restructuring Soon (Not To Be Confused With The Funny Sign On the Wall At Your Local Tavern That Says "Free Beer - Tomorrow")

CHICAGO (Reuters) - Motorola said it expects to provide details on the long-awaited reorganization of its communications businesses in coming days.
The company confirmed that it is holding a meeting for vice presidents today and Tuesday at its sprawling corporate headquarters in Schaumburg, Ill., and details of the "communications enterprise" will be explained there.

"Some of the officers are going to meet to discuss the renewal of the communications enterprise," said Motorola spokesman David Rudd. "The company is expected to release more details of that in the coming days."

Motorola has said it will combine the now-separate paging, two-way radio, cellular phone and infrastructure businesses. Part of the new communications business will focus on products for consumers and the other on equipment for service operators.

In April, Motorola named Merle Gilmore as deputy to the chief executive office for the enterprise-wide communications business plan, to lead the reorganization. Gilmore was the president of Motorola's Europe, Middle East and Africa region, and had previously served as president of Motorola's Land Mobile Products Sector.

Motorola provides wireless communications, semiconductors and advanced electronic systems, components and services.
