If having the best technology (or even quality technology) was the prime determinant of success MSFT would have been out of business a long time ago. A couple of years back Sybase, Oracle and Ingres used to leapfrog each other regularly. Oracle was often far behind the other two.

In the long-run, I don't see how datablades matters much except for niche markets.
