Important post over on the Yahoo board this morning concerning shifting developer opinions of D3D vs. Glide:

============
From the makers of Battlezone and the enhanced patch...

"We started with the idea of doing Glide also, but it became an issue of resources. We had one 3D
programmer and we could have him work on D3D issues or we could have him do a Glide port. In the end, it
was good that we kept him on D3D issues because we kept him busy up to the very end working out
compatibility issues. Glide would have been easy from the standpiont of compatibility compared to D3D, but
we were going to have the D3D issues anyway since we were commited to D3D. We also spent quite a bit of
time working on making the D3D as fast as possible, so I think that it is very close in speed to Glide anyway.
D3D has the advantage of supporting so many cards while Glide only supports 3DFX".

I heard this exact same sentiment on the floor at E3 from several developers I talked to.
