Come to think of it, I would not have picked this as a forum for discussions of the differences between the technical implementations of various features in Oracle, Informix, SQL Server, etc. Anyhow...

At the New York Oracle User's Group meeting yesterday, Oracle's Director of Quality (yes, there is such a person, and the only Oracle employee who has been in a single position with the company for a longer period of time is Larry himself), gave the group a heads up to expect a clearly articulated version of Oracle's corporate vision in the beginning of the calendar year. It seems that with all of the slavish devotion to mission statements and the like in corporate America, Oracle never quite got around to articulating its own take on life, the universe, and everything. Don't be surprised to see the bottom line of this statement resemble something like "Go Team, Beat Microsoft" (my words, my opinion).

So we saw $50 in 1996, is the $60 in early '97 sentiment still out there? On the day of Informix's big Universal Server release, Oracle is up and Informix is down. By the way, I have a whole lot of Betamax stuff laying around, is anyone looking for some superior technology?
