Mr. Ron Nichols reports
Ascot Resources and partner Eastfield Resources completed initial fieldwork on the Fort project at the
end of June 1998. A cut grid with 200 metre line spacing was established over an area of 2.4 kilometres
north-south by 2.0 kilometres east-west. Geophysical surveys (IP and magnetics) as well as soil
geochemical sampling were completed on this grid. The IP survey has defined a strong anomaly 1,600m
long and 600m wide which is open-ended and widening to the south. To the north the response becomes
very faint under an area interpreted to be covered by deep overburden.
Geochemical results which have been received for six of the 13 lines sampled show a strong
copper-in-soil anomaly covering an area of 300m by 800m coincident with the western portion of the IP
anomaly. Anomalous molybdenum-in-soil values of 8 to 46 ppm Mo are located within and west of the
copper anomaly. The copper and molybdenum geochemistry and IP anomalies appear to be associated
with potassic altered monzonite to granodiorite dykes, sediments and breccias along the west flank of a
major ultramafic intrusive body. The remaining sample results are expected within the next two weeks.
Ascot and Eastfield will review all the data as it becomes available and will apply for the permits
necessary to undertake a diamond drill program to test selected targets.
