The premium on Compaq servers is MUCH MUCH HIGHER! Paul, 4 CPU X $3000 = $12,000. Suppose that Compaq can build four CPU's for $500. It will be a very hard decision for Compaq to pick between $12,000 cost and $500 cost. Not to mention the fact that the Alpha has about double the performance of the Xeon. Intel seems to be having a hard time understanding that their customers don't like being reamed. Scumbria
