<<Did I say anywhere that the girl didn't have any freedom or right to not pledge allegiance to the American flag? No, I didn't. So why are you again making things up? Are you intentionally doing that?>>
No, Dwight, I'm not making things up. What I'm trying to see is whether you are serious about your statement that people who do not wish to salute the American flag should really leave the country. You have called a very bright honors student stupid, and stated that she and her mother need psychiatric help. However, it seems to me that since the First Amendment guarantees freedom of speech, the girl should have the right not to salute the flag. If you suggest that people who do not pledge allegiance should leave, that does seem quite a totalitarian view of America to me.
The French absolutely loathed the British during Colonial times. They would have done almost anything to bother them, and supported our revolutionary troops for that reason. You should be very, very happy that they did that, since George Washington was not much of a military strategist when he started, and we needed all the help we could get. I personally have no affinity at all for France, no connection, and would not really think of living or working there, although legally I could, and do speak French. I am not sure why you would want this poor young girl who is simply asserting her constitutional rights to live there, either. She is just as American as you are. Do you dispute that? You seem to be doing so! |
