MCDONALD'S CREDIT CARD ATTRACTS 7,000 APPLICANTS IN JAPAN

TOKYO, July 6 (Asia Pulse via COMTEX) -- More than 7,000 women applied
to receive McJoy Club credit cards offered by McDonald's Co. (Japan)
Ltd. in the 10 days since June 20, when Japan's leading hamburger
restaurant chain started issuing a card exclusively for female
customers. The company expects to issue 30,000 cards in the first two
months, given the faster-than-expected application pace. The restaurant
chain originally expected to issue 30,000 cards in the first year.

The annual fee for the credit cards, which is offered in conjunction
with JCB Co., Visa International Inc. or MasterCard International Inc.,
is covered by McDonald's (Japan). The company offers cardholders
special discounts for McDonald's products as well as classes such as
flower arrangement.

Cards issued in conjunction with JCB account for 45.3% of all issuance
so far, those with Visa for 25% and with MasterCard 29.7%.
