Chris, I was thinking about your post and in a huge loss situation could one willing to risk an even bigger loss average down to within a few cents of the ask and wait for a small bump in price to break even? It would take a fool (I fit that profile) to do this plus a lot of money (I ain't got) but it seems it would be possible to bail without a loss. I wonder if an average down bail out has ever been played successfully? Come to think of it selling the huge amount of shares one would have in blocks would bring the price down making it even more difficult to do this. This is not my plan (way too small time and too broke) and I can't imagine how much money it would take to do this but I found the play interesting and was wondering if any real players have ever done this successfully. From what I have read a good rule is to NEVER average down but gee if I was a rule follower I would never have had the wonderful experience of watching my fortune go down to nothing with this little jewel. :)
