Hmmm, my battery's been dead for quite a while now, the date
on the Mac resets to the 1950's.

The only problem with year 2000 for older PC's is for programs that depend upon the system date for vital functions. Otherwise, does it really matter if you files are dated incorrectly? On a large scale and for certain "legacy" programs and for certain financial programs, it'll matter a great deal.
