Hello Vinman:
I shorted NSCP based on what I understood to be the cooking of the books for Jan '98 and the following quarter. With a shrinking browser market share, cooked books, and portal charges meeting resistance (the firms that pay the portal fees are under pressure to show that form of advertising is worthwhile--and with the jury partly out, it is my understanding that the results are indicating it is not worthwhile), aside from mania, NSCP should be on the decline. One out for this quarter is for Netscape to cook the books again--but that approach only enlarges the issue--and it is historically hard for management to eat crow when they do have a performance quarter and use it to unwind the previous jiggering. The price upward hopefuls in this forum seem to have enthusiasm as the fulcrum for valuation. Greater caution is in order, me thinks.... Mania aside, I was expecting the accounting practices to further undo NSCP. We should know in another six weeks or so.
Best regards,
m
