Janice, It is possible to short penny stocks and in fact is done everyday!! All that is needed is a willing broker and they are out there.

Have you ever done it? Do you actually KNOW anyone who's ever done it? My own broker would be willing enough, but, ah, sorry, he's not allowed to do it, either for himself or for clients.

Like all of us, I'm acquainted with a number of Canadian members of SI. Several of 'em, out of curiosity, have called their brokerage firms and asked if they could short stocks trading for under two dollars. They were told they couldn't.

And as I've said before: most pennies don't do enough dollar volume to make an organized professional shorting effort worthwhile.
