On this date in music history in 1940 Ringo Starr was born Richard
Starkey in Liverpool, England. He replaced Pete Best as The Beatles
drummer in August 1962.

Johnny Cash made his first appearance on the"Grand Ole Opry" in 1956.
He later became a regular.

The Monkees opened a national tour with a little-known Jimi Hendrix as
the opening act in 1967.

Guitarist Bjorn Ulvaeus and vocalist Agnetha Faltskog of the Sweedish
supergroup ABBA married in Verum, Sweeden in 1971.

Gits lead vocalist Mia Zapata was found strangled in Seattle in 1993. She
was 27.
