Thanks for the feedback, but ... . It's easy enough to add error correction codes and interleaving (to avoid burst errors) to work around the problem. This will increase the bandwidth of the system slightly, but probably not that much (20 or 30%?).

OTOH, if such improvements (ECC and interleaving) are not added it isn't clear to me how increasing the bandwidth of a normal HDTV signal will fix the problem (unless ECC and interleaving expansions are part of the HDTV spec).
