Major VSE change - just when you thought you had seen everything....

The VSE recently announced a new policy for press releases. Starting September 1, all VSE companies must file press releases via internet to the VSE. For those that subscribe to the LCDB on the VSE site, you will get all releases there.

Then the VSE is sending its feed of releases to CNW for redistribution through it's national disclosure network for a reduced rate payable to CNW. I think this essentially puts Stockwatch and Market News out of the VSE listed companies press release business (which I believe is their major business). It is also a major blow for CCN and ISDN, and a coup for CNW.

It is an amazing decision with serious impacts on many organizations. I don't think the dust has settled on the policy yet - this was a complete surprize to the other wire services up to yesterday.

From a user's point of view, it probably good. I am assuming that CNW will continue to make releases available for free on the Internet (I could be wrong on this since that they would be giving away what the VSE is trying to sell via LCDB).

Interesting times ahead.
