Paul, Re: "Initial indications by "early adopters" of Xeon-based Servers (note- the NASDAQ
is one of them!) show significant perfromance increses over older systems, such
as Pentium Pro."

This is good news. The stock exchanges used to use essentially only mainframes or Tandems for stock transaction processing.

Re: "Early adopters of Xeon four-way systems appear to be pleased with the new
levels of performance, even while system providers are planning for the next
processor upgrade."

I wonder how Unisys managed to put together four way systems, what with the > 2 way cache coherency bug.

Re: "Basically, Windows NT scaling has improved by 40 to 50 percent overnight
because of new systems based on the processors. With 2MB of Level 2 cache...."

Scaling, or lack of it, has been one of the major slams against NT servers. Sounds like improvement is happening there.

To me, it looks like Xeon is it for the next few quarters for Intel. I guess it had better sell.
