Qwest is going to make a lot of money for the Anschutz family and hopefully for faithful shareholders over the next few decades if not beyond. QWEST has what everyone else wants/will be needing for the future, to sell and especially to sell to a RBOC would make no sense. There is no synergy per se. Why would a coast to coast and now European state of the art fiber network company want to be taken over by a regional Bell, this would be a step down the food chain; Qwest is moving up the chain. A RBOC would end up destroying QWEST and its culture.

I don't think the Anschutz family which controls over 80% of Qwest shares would even entertain such a thought.

IMHO
