WILMINGTON, Del., July 7 (Reuters) - Lucent Technologies
Inc. (NYSE:LU) has sued Periphonics Corp. (NASDAQ:PERI) for alleged
infringement of nine Lucent patents related to computer
telephony integration systems.
In a complaint filed Monday in the U.S. District Court in
Delaware, Lucent seeks an injunction against further alleged
infringement and unspecified damages, tripled for alleged
willful infringement.
The patents at issue are '810, an "Arrangement for deleting
trailing message portions;" '083, "Signal sequence editing
method and apparatus with automatic time fitting of edited
segments;" '408, "For generating computer-controlled
interactive voice services;" '910, "Arrangement for deleting
leading message portions;" '715, for "Announcing waiting times
in queuing systems;" '692, "Automatic speech recognition using
echo cancellaation;" '760, "Voice messaging system with voice
activated prompt interrupt;" '774, "Interactive queuing system
for call centers;" and '024, "Voice response unit."
Lucent, of Murray Hill, New Jersey, designs communications
systems and software.
Periphonics, of Bohemia, New York, integrates telephones
and computers to allow telephone access to computer
information.
A Periphonics spokesman declined comment.
