Man Beaten Over Chat Rift Reuters - 12:50pm 7.Jul.98.PDT SOUTH BRUNSWICK, New Jersey -- An online argument exploded into offline violence when a group of men allegedly went to the home of an America Online chat room participant and beat him with a baseball bat. The men had been arguing for several weeks in the AOL forum. As the argument heated up, several men learned the home address of one man. They drove to his house on 10 June and beat him with the bat when he answered his front door, police said today. "We still do not know exactly what they argued about, but the victim got somebody very angry," said Lt. Ron Schmalz. The 22-year-old victim, who was not identified, was hospitalized following the attack and later released. Charges of aggravated assault and weapons possession were filed on Monday against six men, all in their late teens or early 20s and all from New York City. A seventh accused attacker, a 15-year-old boy, faces charges in juvenile court. The accused men are free on US$1,000 bail each. By the way, Moonray is not my real name.<g> o~~~ O
