"IBM can make it for AMD in .16 um CMOS 7LM" Ohhh?

Sure about that? How about "IBM can make that soon as AMD
redesigns their processor for the process - soon as the yields
get healthy - and soon as we get this process out of the
development fab - IF (big if) IBM chooses to do all that work
for AMD. - NOT LIKELY - and then it will be ready for 2002...

INTC can't do that...

Right - Intel will "skip" to .13 micron...

Don't forget copper....

So what about copper? Intel already has "Intel Inside" as far as public hype goes.

As for copper metalization - this has been around since 1972. You haven't heard about it as it has its problems and limited benefits.

Besides, AMD won't do copper unless Intel does copper. That's just the way they are wired. Can't do anything except copy Intel.
