I don't think any of us can say what the market share is based on our
personal knowledge of ISPs. Most of the ISPs that I know of use
Ascend. So what? How many ISPs do I know of? Also, does a given ISP
use one make only? I know that Pac Bell uses Ascend. Do they also
use USR and/or Cisco and/or Shiva? I don't know. There's something
like 3000 ISPs out there. The purpose of the market reports is to
provide objective, unbiased information about the market. Total
Control is a RAS. So is the MAX 4000, the Cisco 5200, etc. The
market reports, somewhat dated, say that Ascend has greater than 50%
of this market. If you still want to believe, in the face of this
that USR dominates, go right ahead. Don't you wonder why ASND is so
much less volatile than USRX?
