Bruce,

Downstream rates of 1.5 Mbs are minimal for VOD.
6-8 Mbs is definitely fine.

I agree w/the others that ADSL is not for pay TV,
but for internet access, VOD, and video conferencing,
it is probably the most cost-effective way to go.

Interesting idea about putting a hybrid system together--
why not have both systems coming into the house?
