i use SSB occasionally, and have found their 'advice' to be pretty bad. look at some of their picks...AMAT, MOT...this does not inspire confidence.

last year the broker i used there told me that they thought ETEC would do really well. it actually turned out to be a pretty good pick, but i didnt buy it immediately. in less than a week, it lost 30+% of its value. it did turn around, but i have learned to be very cautious of recommendations from smith barney.
