Inclusion in the Russell 2000 is nice. It will be even better if small cap companies come back into vogue, since index funds based on the Russell 2000 would presumably get a chunk of the money.
Effectively, inclusion in Russell 2000 means inclusion in funds based on that index. It should create new buying and holding in the stock that simply won't sell unless there is a major redemption of index fund shares.
