US 5650899 is not the patent. Try EP 841661 with a US application number of 95477764 filed on 6/7/1995:

"Removable cartridge for magnetic disk drive includes clamping mechanism for restraining disk when door is closed and freeing disk for rotation when door is open"

"ADVANTAGE - Clamps disk to cartridge shell when cartridge is removed from drive to prevent rattle of cartridge which might otherwise damage recording disk."

Presuming the USPTO will issue a counterpart, Syquest may have a bit of a problem in the US. (The EP showed up 5/13/98 and was filed on 8/14/95)

Starting in France is a great tactic on the part of Iomega's legal team.
