Diamond Lane Expands Interoperability to Include
Efficient's SpeedStream 5010 ATM DMT ADSL Remote
Access Unit

July 8, 1998

PETALUMA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE) via NewsEdge
Corporation --

Leading DSL Supplier Offers Multiple End-to-End

Solutions for the End-User

Diamond Lane Communications, a leader in central
office-based Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) equipment,
and Efficient Networks, a leading supplier of ATM/DSL
customer premises equipment (CPE), announce
expanded interoperability.

Diamond Lane's Speedlink(TM) System will seamlessly
interoperate with Efficient's SpeedStream(TM) 5010
ATM/ADSL remote access unit and is compliant with
the Industry Standard DMT ADSL at up to 8 Mbps. The
complete, end-to-end ADSL solution will be available to
service providers in August 1998.

This latest end-to-end DMT ADSL solution from
Diamond Lane and Efficient Networks offers service
providers another option for their growing DSL customer
base. To effectively serve the DSL market, service
providers must be able to meet varying customer
demands. With Efficient's ATM/ADSL remote access
unit, Diamond Lane adds an ideal solution for remote
networking and LAN extension.

"Regardless of which DSL flavor the service provider
chooses to offer, the end-user benefits from competitive
technologies within the market. New developments in
each category drive the progress of all configurations
forward, ultimately providing the end user with the
highest quality product," says Lee Doyle, vice president
of International Data Corp. "By adding a DMT-standard
end-to-end solution to its line of DSL services, Diamond
Lane can offer service providers expanded DSL options
for the end-user."

Individuals and workgroups will benefit from this new
end-to-end ADSL solution that provides cost-effective
remote access for Internet/Intranet applications such as
telecommunicating and LAN connectivity. Providing
seamless compatibility with Diamond Lane's
Speedlink(TM) system, Efficient's SpeedStream 5010
ATM/ADSL remote access unit provides an
industry-standard 10Base-T Ethernet interface. This
enables individual computers or existing workgroups to
connect to the network using a standard cable.
Configuration changes are not necessary for computers
with an existing Ethernet interface.

"By working with expert CPE manufacturers like Efficient
Networks, Diamond Lane is able to offer service
providers end-to-end standard DMT ADSL services at
competitive price points," says Ron Young, vice
president of marketing at Diamond Lane. "Efficient
Networks has demonstrated a commitment to developing
CPE for multiple DSL technologies including this ANSI
standard DMT version. Diamond Lane will continue to
work with Efficient to leverage their aggressive
developments and assist in the widespread deployment
of open interface DSL offerings."

"Efficient Networks' latest CPE solution is an ideal
technology for remote network access by individuals
and workgroups," says Greg Langdon, vice president of
marketing at Efficient Networks. "By using Efficient's
CPE devices, Diamond Lane can now easily deliver
Ethernet-to-Internet DSL and broadband solutions to
their small office customers."

Diamond Lane's end-to-end solution will be available in
August 1998. The SpeedStream 5010 can be purchased
now through Efficient Networks or through Diamond
Lane directly.
