Gary - Binder's post WAS excellent, as you pointed out, but I stay completely confused about why you end up criticizing others for using hindsight to learn from this experience. In your previous post that I'm responding to you yourself said "There were warning signs..." and this seems to me to be what hindsight is best used for, i.e. to look back at the events/perceptions/activities/decisions that took place in order to do a better job next time around. If someone learns ANYTHING to do differently in the future then that's from hindsight. The "team effort" that led to exposing what was going on was GREAT and I don't think Binder was criticizing or questioning that at all, but if we can't look back then no one learns a damn thing. If it's nonsensical/irrational speculation you don't like, fine, but I just don't think your blanket objections to hindsight are justified because that would mean that no one should look backwards for any reason, and then there wouldn't be any learning. Maybe that's not what you mean but that's the way it comes across.
