(NASDAQ:TDFX) today announced that Gateway plans to adopt the 3Dfx Interactive platform for 3D gaming by incorporating the powerful Voodoo2(TM) chipset in its award-winning Destination(R) family of home multimedia PCs. The 3Dfx Interactive platform for consumer 3D entertainment includes the Voodoo(TM) family of 3D graphics chipsets plus over 250 popular 3D video games enhanced or developed specifically for the platform. Further augmenting the platform, 3Dfx Interactive has relationships with over 600 of the leading software developers and strong consumer brand recognition. Gateway will announce specific products at a later time and will leave further details until then. These PCs are likely to ship with a Black Magic 3D(TM) Voodoo2 board made by STB Systems, Inc. already installed and configured for the system. Voodoo2 technology offers a ten-fold performance advantage over home game consoles such as Nintendo 64.
